Description
Who will be my shining light
Éarlune of Everstar?
Who will be my guide tonight
Éarlune of Everstar?
Give me a silk thread to hold
Éarlune of Everstar.
Warm me when the wind blows cold
Éarlune of Everstar.
When the night is darkening
and we're a long way from the dawn,
I can hear you harkening
and to your side I'm drawn.
Will you be my guide tonight
Éarlune of Everstar?
I can't tell my left from right
but I know where you are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A fairly simple illustration of Éarlune of Everstar, the dream horse of Niérlind. Éarlune is a strange creature: she only appears at night, and then only the very young or very old can see her. She seems to inhabit the same quasi-dream realm as Tobius Leander and Grimbald, although she is no relation to either. Although she is often associated with the moon she is in fact from the Everstar, a peculiar hunk of glowing white rock that floats over Niérlind.
Éarlune's name is pronounced "A-ar-loon" and was intentionally meant to resemble Éarendil from Tolkien's Silmarillion.
Oil pastels on 9"x12" bristol board. Art, character, and associated prose © myself.
8 1/2" x 11" glossy print available for $5.00 + shipping and tax (CA only) at the Eltsar Press Prints Gallery.
Enjoy.
